Torchlight Carnival

Friday 27th September 2019

The Kendal Torchlight procession 2019 takes place on Friday 27th September, with the Kendal Street Party on Saturday 28th September.

Kendal’s Torchlight Carnival is one of a kind. Each year crowds of people, Kendalians and visitors alike, line the streets to watch the procession, which involves local businesses, schools, organisations and clubs. From decorated floats and all manner of vehicles, to dancing troups and marching musicians, it’s always so much fun to see what our creative
community has come up with each year.

Torchlight Event
Route and Timings

The Kendal Torchlight Carnival starts from Kirkbie Kendal School at 7.30pm and then follows a set route to loop round Kendal town centre. The procession will then finish back at Kendal Leisure Centre. Many roads in and around the town centre will be closed to vehicles from around 6.30pm, after this time no access will be available in or out of the town centre. The procession will finish around 10pm with all roads re-opening shortly after.

The Torchlight Theme

The theme of Kendal Torchlight 2019 is ‘Made in the Lakes’.

‘Made in the Lakes’ will allow imaginations to run wild.
The theme is to inspire you to share what you value
about your way of life and the cultural heritage of
South Lakeland.
