Save the date for Kendal Torchlight 2024
Following the success of last year’s procession, we are pleased to announce the date for the 2024 procession.
The date you need to mark in your calendars is Saturday 28th September however, if you’d like to get involved this year, whether that’s in the organisation and planning stages, or appearing in the famous procession itself, there are plenty of workshops and meetings locals are encouraged to get involved with in the run up to summer.
The team, run entirely by local volunteers, is always on the lookout for new members who can inspire fresh ideas and help it evolve to work in the current day. The procession itself, which has been going since 1970, finally returned to the heart of town last year after being waylaid by the pandemic and its residual restrictions. It saw a fantastic variety of costumes, performers and local schools/community groups restart the tradition in a vehicle free display of the region’s famous creative spirit. Not to mention, the jaw dropping drone show to close out the proceedings.
Though the organisers are keeping their cards close to their chest at this stage, this year’s event will continue to be an ambitious display of the town’s creativity – but one thing is for sure, the procession will return to the streets!
