What can you enter?

There are a range of ways you can enter Torchlight this year, where you can create costumes, dance sing, promote your organisation and help create a magical Torchlight event. Some of the different ways to enter are listed below.

‘Carnival Extravaganza’
in Abbot Hall Park

Sat 25th September

Just like before you will need to get creative to make your entry, but instead of walking all the way around town on Friday night, you will parade and perform around “The Dell” at Abbot Hall Park on Saturday in the daylight!

Your entry needs to be on foot or pedal powered and should be inspired by gardens and their inhabitants, either natural or mystical.

You can choose to simply walk around the ring or you
might even prepare a dance or mini show as part of
your entry.

‘Wheelbarrow Float’
in Abbot Hall Park

Sat 25th September

Why not decorate a wheelbarrow inspired by our theme, Garden of Delights.

Think of your wheelbarrow like a float, but in miniature. Use your imagination and creativity to turn your wheelbarrow into something amazing. It could be a bountiful garden scene or an curious creature.

Your wheelbarrow will form part of our extravaganza and can be accompanied by dancers, people in costumes, music, much as you would an ordinary float to take part in our carnival extravaganza. They will also be displayed for viewing in the lantern garden when you are not performing.

As always there will be awards for the best and most imaginative entries.

‘Our Garden Fair’
in Abbot Hall Park

10.30am – 9pm
Sat 25th September

The ‘Garden Fair’ is an opportunity for you to showcase your school, charity, business or community group and specifcally what you are doing to support our local  community, protect the planet or raise awareness of social or environmental issues.

Submit a brief outline of your what your school, charity, business or community group is doing to help us understand your presentation.

You will then be invited to create and bring a stall to our Garden Fair.

Torchlight is part of the Great Big Green Week celebrating what we can do to encourage us all to play our part.
