The street festival takes place between 10am-4pm on Saturday 27th September 2025. It is located right in the centre of town, between Kendal Library and Kendal Town Hall. This free event offers fun, interactive activities provided by local businesses, emergency services, charities and community interest groups. Street entertainers and two live stages filled with dance and music add to the atmosphere. In this celebration of our town, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
The parade kicks off at 7pm from Abbot Hall Park and wraps up around 9 to 9:30pm. It winds through town along this route. Groups from all parts of our community take part showcasing song, dance, sculptures, lanterns, and lights. Bands and music enhance the experience, creating a festive and carnival-like atmosphere in our amazing town.
Kendal town centre offers plenty of car parking options, and daytime road closures are not expected to affect these locations. However, evening road closures will make accessing or leaving many central car parks along the route more difficult. If you’re planning to park in town for the parade, it’s best to arrive well before the closures start, keeping in mind that you won’t be able to leave the car park until the road closures are lifted after the procession passes and it’s deemed safe. Alternatively, you might want to park outside the town centre and walk in for the event. Note that the multi-story car park will close for the evening, so cars must be removed by 6:30 pm.
