How to get to Kendal
From M6 junction 36 take the Kendal exit and stay on the dual carriageway for 5.5 miles, take the slip-road signed to South Kendal and enter the town.
On Torchlight night (28th September 2019) a Road Closure Order is in place from 6.30pm until approximately 10.30pm. Finding a place to park in town will then be impossible. If you park in town once the Road Closure order has been enforced it will not be possible to drive out of the town from 6.30pm until approximately 10.30pm. Please ensure that you park outside the Road Closure cordon if you wish to leave during this time.
We advise all non-residential visitors to park outside the town so that you are not restricted by the Road Closure Order (6.30pm – 10.30pm). There are large supermarket car parks at both ends of the town and we hope they won’t mind accommodating you (nip in and do some shopping whilst you’re there!).
Most of the public car parks in the town are within the Road Closure cordon which we estimate will open around 10.30pm.
Dedicated coach parking is available at several locations. please contact us for more specific information.
Parking for disabled or limited mobility vehicles is also available. There is one location within the Road Closure cordon at the Bus Station on Blackhall Road. The Torchlight Procession passes in front of this location so users may remain in their cars. (Please note that you will not be able to arrive at or leave this location between 6.30pm and approximately 10.30pm).
There is a second location in Booth’s Car Park from which vehicles may leave via side roads. This car park will be busy so we advise that you arrive early.#
