Curious Botanicals

Workshops throughout the summer with a performance on 25 September 2021

Don’t Kendal Torchlight’s Curious Botanicals street theatre workshops and let the performer in you blossom!

Kendal Torchlight in collaboration with Kendal Community Theatre (KCT), freelance director Jayne Davies and costume designer Kate Reid bring you a series of theatrical workshops and an exciting opportunity to perform live at this year’s festival!

This year’s Torchlight theme is a “Garden of Delights”. The event will take place in and around Kendal Town Centre on 24-26 September 2021. KCT has been commissioned to create a unique piece of street theatre and they’d love you to be involved! The workshops and performances are open to members and non-members but workshop numbers are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

This is a callout for Gentle Gardeners, High-brow Horticulturalists, Fabulous Flora and Bodacious Blooms! Sign up for KCT’s Torchlight Theatre workshops now to be part of the show!

There will be speaking and non-speaking roles for costumed street-performers to help bring this botanical inspired spectacle to life. Working in bubbles of 3-6 performers, the show will start in Market Place, before moving on to a number of site specific locations where small ensembles will deliver a 5-10 minute performance before joining the main parade.

Workshops will be conducted in Covid secure conditions.

Because of the nature of Street Theatre performance we are recommending that participants are 16+ or accompanied by an adult at all times.

These workshops are being offered free as part of Kendal Torchlight’s community engagement programme but donations to Kendal Torchlight Festival are always welcome!
