We are thrilled to announce that the Kendal Torchlight Carnival is set to light up our town once again, thanks to the incredible generosity of our community. This year’s event, scheduled for just 10 days from now, has been made possible by numerous donations and pledges from local businesses and residents. Your support has truly kept the Torchlight flame burning bright!
Summer Workshops: A Resounding Success
This summer, the Brewery Arts Centre hosted a series of workshops that were nothing short of fantastic. These sessions brought together people of all ages to create stunning space themed lanterns that will feature in the upcoming procession. The costume workshops, in particular, were a highlight, showcasing the creativity and enthusiasm of our community members focusing on this years theme Fire, Earth, Air and Water.
Schools and Refugees Joining in the Fun
We are also delighted to share that several local schools participated in the workshops, adding their unique touch to the event. Students from Vicarage Park School, Heron Hill, Stramongate School, Castle Park School, Sandgate School, and Queen Katherine School all contributed their creativity and energy, making this year’s Torchlight even more special.
In a heart-warming addition, we were honoured to welcome refugee groups from Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Syria to join in the festivities. Their participation symbolises the inclusive and supportive spirit of Kendal, as we come together to celebrate our diverse community.
Community Groups and Colleges
Community groups and local colleges have also played a significant role in the preparations. Various workshops held by these groups have fostered a sense of unity and collaboration, ensuring that everyone has a chance to contribute to the Torchlight Carnival. Their efforts have added even more vibrancy and creativity to the event.
Full Steam Ahead
With the workshops behind us, we are now moving full steam ahead towards the main event. The excitement is spreading as we prepare for Torchlight, which promises to be a spectacular celebration of Kendal’s creative spirit. The procession will wind its way through the town centre, illuminating the streets with vibrant displays and joyous performances.
