It's coming home
After a 3 year hiatus, we are bringing the procession back to Torchlight. As one of the biggest events in the Kendal calendar, Torchlight is an event made by the whole community. Organised by volunteers who are working to keep the tradition alive, it relies on the local community to create costumes, music and dance to help light the streets with colour and celebration.
The procession will be motor vehicle free this year. Entries can take the form of walking, dancing, bicycles, stilts, wheelbarrows, mobility scooters, shopping trollies. We challenge you to use your imagination to bring the procession to life!

Torchlight really is a community event. Since it’s beginnings in 1970, the majority of floats have been created by local businesses, community groups and organisations. Today is no different. Rather than buying in lots of creations, Kendal Torchlight celebrates our local talent and creativity. Every year, entrants have competed to win coveted trophies in a series of categories. This year, we are inviting everyone to join together and help resurrect the procession to take it forward into a new era where it can grow from strength to strength.
Entries are invited from anyone who would like to take part.
