Torchlight 2024

Kendal Torchlight 2024 will be held on Saturday 28th September. The town centre procession will be back,  celebrating the best of Kendal’s creative spirit. Watch this space for more information.

Enter Torchlight

Join the procession and help bring the town to life as we rebuild after covid. You can enter your school, community group, family and friends, or you can join our huge community entry “Help Kendal Bloom”. Lets make it bigger and better than ever!

About Torchlight

Kendal Torchlight has been a part of our community since 1970. Through the years it has seen lots of changes, but at it’s heart it remains a community event for the people of Kendal and those who come to celebrate with us. It is open to all, free and is created by the people of Kendal.

This year we are once again holding workshops in schools to create carnival crafts. We will be making lanterns and decorations for a giant community entry “Help Kendal Bloom” which all are welcome to join in. Schools can also enter independently and create their own entries.

2024 Activities

Our summer programme will be giving everyone in the community a chance to join in with our festival making workshops. All are welcome to get involved.

On Saturday the 28th September, the town centre will host a daytime festival with craft stalls, activities, live music and entertainment. In the evening the procession will light up the streets as it passes round a town centre loop for all to see.

Business Sponsorship

Without support from our community, Torchlight cannot happen. Every year, amazing local businesses support us and help the town to carry on this amazing tradition.

Could your business support the event and also gain some great exposure in the local community?

Join the team!

Help us to secure the future of Torchlight. We need people to join the volunteer group that together make this event happen. It’s a great opportunity to be involved in running a major event and also a great way to help give back to the community. Whether you are interested in social media, event management or even logistics, if you can help, join us and keep the event alive.

There have been some magnificent costumes, stalls and performers involved in Torchlight over the years. View our gallery to view a selection.

2022 Look Back

2022 saw us emerging from Covid restrictions, the death of Queen Elizabeth II and despite the odds, Torchlight managed to go ahead!
