Torchlight Carnival

Friday 15th September

The Kendal Torchlight procession 2017 takes place on Friday 15th September, with the Kendal Street Party on Saturday 16th September.

Kendal’s Torchlight Carnival is one of a kind. Each year crowds of people, Kendalians and visitors alike, line the streets to watch the procession, which has traditionally involved local businesses, schools, organisations and clubs. From decorated floats and all manner of vehicles, to dancing troups and marching musicians, it’s always so much fun to see what our creative community has come up with each year.

The Torchlight Theme

A big thank you to the local schools and pupils who replied to our request to send in ideas for the theme. We can now officially announce the theme of Kendal Torchlight 2017 is ‘Fairy Tales’.

‘Fairy Tales’ will allow imaginations to run wild as both children and adults alike have favourite stories and films which they share together. This theme was chosen by pupils who study at separate schools in Kendal, Vicarage Park Primary School and Castle Park School.

How to enter

We are now accepting entries for this year’s Carnival. You can download our entry form by clicking the button below.

Please note that we don’t have a huge budget nor many volunteers, so the Torchlight Team is unlikely to be able to provide funding for Carnival Groups from outside the immediate area. Our priority will be to support local organisations, though if you have an idea or would like any further details please contact our team.
