The Annual Kendal Torchlight Festival has announced it's 2016 theme today. This year, after requesting ideas for a theme through social media the Torchlight organisers along with the Carnival entrants are going to be "Celebrating Kendal's Spirit".
The aim for 2016 is to celebrate the passion and spirit within Kendal's community as well as everything else we love about our town here in Cumbria, the gateway to the Lakes!
The past year has been difficult for many people both in our town and across the county, however we have also seen a strength and spirit where people have pulled together and supported each other through the challenging times.
The Torchlight Carnival is a wonderful tradition in Kendal, and a great opportunity to celebrate together and build an even stronger local community.
We encourage you to be imaginative, get creative and think about what you love about Kendal and what our town means to you, but most importantly... have fun!
Last year over 27,000 people watched local schools, teams and organisations taking part in the Carnival and putting on a fantastic procession that really represented the creative diversity within our town.
So for 2016 we want to celebrate this and hope that as many people as possible join in with the Carnival, whether as entrants or joining the crowds supporting them on the night.
The 2016 Torchlight Carnival is on Friday 9th September, with the procession starting at 7.30pm.
Entry forms for this year’s event are now. For information on how to enter please visit our Carnival Entries Page.
